National Write a Letter of Appreciation Week

National Write A Letter of Appreciation Week: 1-7

In honor of National Write A Letter of Appreciation Week, I’d like to challenge each of you to write a letter to someone you who has made an impact on your life and let them know! If you do it on a public forum, feel free to link to it in the comments below, and spread the inspiration to show our appreciation for others. 🙂 I’m sharing mine below, to someone I don’t normally express my gratitude to in so many words…

Dad and Grandbabies

Dad and Grandbabies

Dear Dad,

I don’t always say it, but I appreciate you.

I carry with me daily as a parent myself now the lesson you taught to us growing up that providing for your children is a top priority, working hard to make sure we never went without anything we needed. I admire the example of generosity to others that you have set for me, even though I think you are absolutely bonkers for being so giving to some people I can see so clearly don’t deserve your help. I appreciate you helping Mom teach me how to be a good steward of the things God gives me, and how to save for a rainy day. I am grateful that you gave me the opportunity to raise so many different kinds of animals growing up, because those are some of my best memories from childhood (dressing up goats, rolling around hedgehogs, hanging out on Jack’s back, and on). I appreciate the strong morals you and Mom taught me, and the foundation that has given me as I make my own decisions in life. I’m glad to know that if I really, truly need you for anything, you’ll be there for me.

There are many things I appreciate about you, but I don’t want it to ramble on or make it all go to your head. We all know that thing is already swollen up the size of an elephant on steroids already, right? 😉 (Yep, I’m also grateful for the gift of sarcasm you endowed on me, whether you are glad for that one or not…HA! 🙂 )

Love You Oodles & Truckloads,

Your Favorite Daughter *Shhh!!! Don’t tell them I’m your only one.

Alright, y’all, is there anyone who would you like to show your appreciation for? Give them a shout out below! 🙂

Liebster Award!

Just me. My little girl took this photo. :)

Just me. My little girl took this photo. 🙂

A sweet friend and amazing blogger nominated me for the Liebster Award! 🙂 Although I’m over the limit for followers, I’m still happy to participate. 🙂 Please check out her wonderful blog here: https://kbailey373.wordpress.com/

Now, for my part, here are my answers to the questions I was asked for my nomination:

1.If you could be something today, something to make you proud, what would you be?

The best mommy for my children and to be able to successfully contribute financially to our family in a more significant way. I don’t do big dreams anymore.

2.Why you started blogging?

I had to quit working in what I thought would be my lifelong career. I was depressed and my mind was slowly melting in mommyland madness from a lack of an intellectual outlet. I have always loved to write and share frugal tips and recipes and crafty things, and had a couple of people suggest I start blogging. It snowballed from there.

3.What would make you happy?

Peace.

4.What is one thing you can’t live without at the moment?

My children. For real! They drive me batty sometimes, but they are my biggest reason for getting up every morning and moseying my way through every day.

5.The book or the movie?

It varies.

Poochy Play Pals

Poochy Play Pals

6.Do you have pets? if no, pick one would you would like to have

Yep! I have a dog named Ducky, two cats  named Xena and Sambo and two chickens named Millie and Dory. What do I want? Wellllll…I’d like to eventually get more chickens, another puppy (maybe next spring), fill an aquarium with fishies, raise rabbits and who knows what else?

7.Share your favorite blog and describe in 3 words why?

Wow, that is a toughie! Let’s say…ummm…okay, so I can’t pick! Pfffft!!

8.Describe yourself in 3 words.

Nurturing, strong, boring.

9.Mountain or sea/ocean?

Both, y’all, both!!! 😉

10.What you do to relax?

I hide and eat chocolate. LOL!!! A hot shower when my husband is home to actually watch the crazy little cute people we produced, so I don’t have to rush and worry about what destruction they are wrecking on my house and themselves while I try to get clean. Before kids, reading and writing and drawing and long QUIET walks were added in there. Quiet….as a toddler hangs from my neck hollering for his sister who is trying to work on kindergarten next to me to bow to him, “King Bambam”. Really, it’s happening. LOL

11.Favorite scent/perfume

To wear? Vanilla and fruity scents. In general? Baking cookies, babies, cinnamon, vanilla.

Put these rules in your post.
Inform the bloggers you have nominated.

Ok, the Rules:

Thank the person who has nominated you and link their blog in in your post.
Answer the questions above.
Nominate 5-11 blogger, who have less than 200 followers (or more if you don’t check, like me. LOL).
Make a new list with 11 questions.

Another Award, Times 2!!

Liebsteraward2I was given the Liebster Award by two of my fellow bloggers- My 3 Monsters http://my3monsters.wordpress.com/ and WAHMs Live Green http://www.wahfamilieslivegreen.com/. Both ladies have blogs that run pretty true to what their titles hint at, and I’d encourage everyone to check them out. I’m truly flattered to be thought of for this award, and am nominating some wonderful and different bloggers myself this time around.  I tried to make this fresh, but some of the facts about me are just the same. 🙂

These are the Liebster Award rules; “When nominated, the blogger must list eleven facts about his/herself, answers questions given by the nominator, and come up with eleven questions for the bloggers he/she nominates.” The bloggers are also supposed to have under 300 followers.

Here goes something!

♥ Eleven Facts About Penny Pinching Peach♥

Hubby Training

Hubby Training

•I probably have one of the hardest working husbands in the world. He’s a firefighter/paramedic, and I’m very proud of the fact my husband is willing to save lives and help others for a living.

•My dream growing up was to be a mommy and…..whatever else. The only unchanging part was that I wanted to be a mommy. My two munchkins? Crazy little dreams come true! 🙂

•I come from a long & proud line of penny pinching peaches.

•I was peeling taters in the kitchen with my mom when I was 7. I’m passing on the helping-in-the-kitchen-early-on tradition to my little girl, who already puts up freshly washed silverware and crushes cans for recycling at the ripe ol’ age of 3 1/2.

•I was homeschooled, graduating at age 15 in the top 1% of graduating seniors nationwide.

•I lost my mom in 2006, and I miss her every day, but she lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.

•I love doing crafts, but haven’t been able to do as many crafts since having babies.

•I am a lifelong bookworm, but that is yet another neglected hobby of mine since having little ones.

Chicks and Chica

•I love cooking and baking. Feeding folks the vittles I stir up is just the icing on the cake!

•I taught myself calligraphy when I was in middle school. That seems like an obscure and useless skill, but it has come in handy to add a bit of pizzazz to the lettering when making cards.

♥Questions From My 3 Monsters♥

1.Why did you start blogging? Several reasons, one being that friends & family encouraged me to officially share what I’d been sharing unofficially forever.
2.What inspires your blog? My family, frugality and random things.
3.What is your favourite holiday and why? Christmas, because it brings my little ones so much joy.
4.What is an important tradition in your family? Right now? My daughter “trick or treats” for prizes when she goes potty. We’re still forming our lifelong traditions, though. 🙂
5.How many children do you think is the ideal number to have? I think it varies according to the family, honestly. For some, that number is none or one. For others, it is 5 or 10. I’m not sure what it is for us yet, but I hope it’s at least one more than we have. 🙂
6.What is your family’s favourite meal? Hmm… that’s a toughie! My family loves my chicken and dumplings. Ritz cracker chicken and chicken livers with mashed taters & green beans. A creamy chicken concoction I tried recently that the hubby called the “best chicken ever”. Chicken, apparently?? lol

I Cook Good, Mommy!

I Cook Good, Mommy!

7.Any suggestions for picky eaters? (This question is purely for selfish reasons!) My little ones generally eat well, but when my daughter goes through a picky patch, I get her input on meals. I’ll say “Shell noodles or curly?” or let her help mix things, dump ingredients in a bowl….pretty much anything to be involved with the meal. When kids help make something, they usually eat it. 🙂
8.What is your dream vacation? Happy, peaceful, warm, and without some weird agenda? lol
9.What kinds of music do you listen to? Country, rock, Christian worship/contemporary.
10.Coffee or tea? Sweet iced tea.
11.If you could offer kids one piece of advice for the future what would it be? ONE?!? Don’t let what the rest of society is doing or thinking dictate your morals and ideas.♥Penny Pinching Peach’s Liebster Award Nominees♥

The Liebster Award!!

The Liebster Award

Liebster Award

Liebster Award

I was given an unexpected compliment & honor this week, by being nominated for the Liebster Award! Liebster means “favorite” in German, and is given to new bloggers who are building their audience by people who believe they are doing an exceptional job.

Thank you so much to My Fabulous Frugal Life http://myfabulousfrugallife.com/ for nominating me! Be sure to visit and follow her frugally fashionable blog.

These are the Liebster Award rules; “When nominated, the blogger must list eleven facts about his/herself, answers questions given by the nominator, and come up with eleven questions for the bloggers he/she nominates.”

♥ Eleven Facts About Penny Pinching Peach♥

•Above all, I love my family.
•I was raised on a farm, and I miss it.
•I come from a long & proud line of penny pinching peaches
•I enjoy cooking and baking yummy vittles, then share them.
•I was homeschooled, graduating at age 15 in the top 1% of graduating seniors nationwide.
•I lost my mom in 2006, and I miss her every day, but she lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
•My children are the reason I get up every morning.
•My pet peeves are parents who don’t parent and rude people.
•I love animals! We have two dogs, two cats, and are getting chicks before Easter.
•I’m new to the Wonderful World of Blog, but I’m finding folks friendly here. 🙂
•I’m pretty creative, and love making random things beautiful.

♥Questions From My Fabulous Frugal Life♥

•Why do you blog? I blog because it is the way I have expressed myself since I learned how to scribble words on paper, and I wanted to try a new avenue of sharing some things I love. You know, like pinching pennies and the funny kiddos.
•What is the last book you read? Organizing For Dummies. I got some great pointers out of it, too. I guess I’m a dummy when it comes to being organized with all the clutter we have around here. 🙂
•What is the last item you purchased? Groceries. Exciting, I know! 😉
•What is the last meal/food you prepared? My great-grandma’s recipe for Ritz cracker chicken, accompanied by some yummy mashed taters & green beans with onions, washed down with a cold glass of sweet tea. (Yep, I’m from the South! How’d y’all guess?)
•Where do you find home decorating items/inspiration? I find inspiration in my favorite things and colors, as well as nature and things others have done with their homes.
•What do you love? I am so in love with God, my family, friends, pets, writing, cooking & creativity.
•What’s something you know you do differently than most people? I don’t care where I am or who is looking. If I want to do the chicken dance with my daughter or look like a monkey to make my baby laugh, I’m not too embarassed to do that.
•What would you do if you won $1 million? Pay off all of our bills, buy our dream home on acreage, invest some for the future, and help out a few deserving folks a bit.
•What is your guilty pleasure? Yummy, delicious, delectable chocolate, especially of the dark & creamy varieties! Drool city! 🙂
•What is your favorite store and why? This is going to sound weird, but right now my favorite chain store is CVS. It is the easiest local store for stacking coupons and deals together for ridiculous savings! 🙂 Besides that, I have a lifelong friendship with thrift stores and consignment shops. You can find all sorts of nifty treasures on the cheap at those spots, and they keep my munchkins beautifully clothed for pennies on the dollar.
•What are you grateful for? I am grateful to be alive to be with my family. I had an extremely complicated pregnancy (due to a grapefruit sized dermoid cyst and delayed discovery by my original doctors) with my 10 month old son, and both of us nearly passed away. It was a hard fight to carry him as long as possible, then they nearly lost both of us when he was born. He went into respiratory arrest due to being three weeks premature and the meds I was on to keep from going into labor any sooner. I lost too much blood during an emergency c-section & surgery. Had my husband not fought so hard to force them to switch me to specialists at the best hospital in the state, I honestly believe that we might not be here today.I thank God every day that I am here to enjoy my life, family and babies, and even be annoyed & exhausted by them, because I was so close to not having all of this. We are very blessed.
